Today, at 6pm, I fell in love with Rio de Janeiro for the first time. It happened when I was walking down Copacabana beach (for the first time) in the semi-dark twilight (the sun sets early here, its winter!). I have seen so many pictures of this beach, seen it in movies, heard stories, but nothing at all comes remotely close to actually being there, surrounded by the most beautiful mountains on one side, buildings and civilization on the other, the grey sea with roaring waves in front, white, white sand below and a glorious, unbelievable cloud filled sky all above. It was marvelous. Words cannot even begin to do it justice!
